JAIPUR: Five major blasts occurred in the crowded markets in the walled city area in Jaipur. The blasts occurred at 7:35 pm on Tuesday evening. Six persons have reportedly died and several got injured in the blasts. The blasts took place in Tripolia Bazar where a Hanuman temple drew a large number of devotees, Manas Chowk, Badi Choupal, Choti Choupal and Johari Bazar. The blasts set off panic and near-stampede situation at all the five congested localities. One blast went off in a car while another at a shop. Injured have been taken to hospitals. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday night strongly condemned the bomb blasts in Jaipur and appealed for calm. Singh, who was briefed on the serial blasts that left several dead and scores injured, deplored the attack on innocent people. He assured all support to the Rajasthan government and assistance to the affected families, PM`s media adviser Sanjaya Baru said in a statement. Prime Minister also spoke to Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje about the blasts and assured all support to the state government. Sonia condemns Jaipur blasts Congress President Sonia Gandhi condemned the serial blasts in Jaipur, calling them a crime against humanity. Condoling the tragic loss of innocent lives in the serial blasts, Gandhi called the terror attacks a "crime against humanity". She appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony in this "grave" hour. Blasts an act of terror: Jaiswal Terming the Jaipur blasts a big conspiracy, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal said tonight the Centre is ready to cooperate with the Rajasthan government in the investigation and relief work. He acknowledged that the blasts were â??an act of terror.â?? Speaking to the media persons hours after the blast he said that a central investigation team can be sent to Rajasthan. â??We are ready to coordinate the rescue efforts. This is a big incident.â?? Jaiswal was unable to confirm any casualty figures but quoted the Rajasthan govt as saying the casualty was atleast 10 and the number could go up. â??We canâ??t comment about whodunit until investigation. The serial blasts were well planned. Rajasthan govt is capable of maintaining security, we keep sending advisories but the states need to be on alert,â?? he said. But, he added, with a population of 1 billion one can never ensure fool-proof security. Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil cut short his visit to North East visit to return to New Delhi. He has also condemned the blasts. â??I will not tolerate such acts of terrorism and would like to visit the spot as soon as possibleâ??, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia said.

Agni-III another milestone, can reach China
India on Wednesday successfully test-fired its 3,000 km range surface-to-surface nuclear capable Agni-III missile for the second time giving the country a capability to hit targets as far as deep inside China.
The all solid fuel missile took off from Wheelers Island off Orissa coast at 09:56 hrs and achieved its full range and accuracy by reaching its pre-designated target in 800 seconds.
"The missile is now ready for induction," jubilant DRDO scientists told media persons after the missile achieved its target in a copy-book style.
With this second successful test-firing, India now joins a select group of nations having intermediate range ballistic missiles with range up to 3,000 km. The missile will give the nation the capability to target cities in China like Beijing [Images] and Shanghai.
It was a sort of golden jubilee gift of the DRDO to the nation as the organisation is about to launch from Monday celebrations to commemorate 50 years of its existence. The success of Agni-III paves the way for India to build its truly intercontinental range missiles Agni-IV with a range of 5000 km in the near future.
A miniaturised submarine-launched version of the Agni-III called Agni-III SL is also being developed and could be test-fired shortly.
Unlike Agni-I and Agni-II, the Agni-III missile has been designed and optimised to carry lighter 200 KT thermo nuclear pay-load weapons.
The third stage booster being installed for the future Agni range of missiles will give them capability of hitting targets at longer distances fairly accurately.
"The missile reached the pre-designated target in a time of 800 seconds, travelling through a peak height of 350 km with a velocity of more than 4000 mt a second," Avinash Chander, Director of the Agni Project, told media persons in Balasore.
He said, "All the sub-systems of the missile functioned in a copy book manner giving an outstanding integrated performance of the missile in terms of range and accuracy."
For the first time, the missile scientists flight-tested high performance indigenous Ring Laser Gyro based navigation system in the Agni range of missiles. So far the DRDO has been using Strap-down Inertial Navigation Systems.
With the revival of the Indo-Russian GLONASS project, which will be in orbit by 2010, Indian missiles are expected to have more precision.
Two Indian naval warships positioned near the target location, South of Equator, confirmed the impact of the missile. This was the third test-flight of the missile.

CPI(M) condemns Rice's comment on food shortage
New Delhi (PTI): The CPI(M) on Wednesday condemned as "bad, indecent and cruel" US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's statement that the global food shortage was due to the improved diets of the people in India and China.
"The whole presumption is that the developing world is suddenly eating more than they were and suddenly they are not suffering from malnultrition as they were," CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said here.
"The comments are bad and indecent and cruel," he told reporters.
He said the United Nations has confirmed two days ago that the rise in food prices, besides being due to decline in production in some parts of the world, is essentially due to speculation trade.
"And the people making profit from this speculation are mostly companies from the United States of America. So they are the ones who are responsible for the rise in prices of foodgrains," Yechury said.
Asked if the CPI(M) feels the Government should react to Rice's comment, he said, "I don't think it merits any reaction. I think it should be dismissed outright."

ISRO sets world record with 10 launches
India's PSLV-C9 has successfully injected ten satellites into orbit.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), set up 35 years ago, may be a baby among the world's space faring nations. But, it is competing with the other biggies to set world records.
And the mission, which has given ISRO an edge over other competitors, is the launch of India's latest Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).
The launch vehicle took off from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh and has launched 10 satellites - a feat which has created a world record.
PSLV weighs 230 tons - the weight of almost 50 elephants - and is as high as a 12-storey building.
The launch vehicle has put two Indian and eight foreign satellites into orbit, it has beaten the current world record of hoisting eight satellites at one go accomplished by Russia almost a year ago.
At lift-off, the first stage of the rocket ignited. Three minutes after the flight, the massive heat shield peeled off. And then, one after the other, the third and fourth stages ignited taking the rocket higher.
Almost 15 minutes after the flight, India's mapping satellite called CARTOSAT 2-A was the first one to be put into orbit and 45 seconds later, the experimental remote sensing satellite, called the Indian Mini Satellite, was put into orbit.
After a gap of 100 seconds, all the babies on board were sequentially dropped off one by one, with a gap of 20 seconds each with the mission ending almost 20 minutes after lift-off.
The first foreign satellite to be dropped off was CUTE from Japan and the last to be ejected was RUBIN from Germany.
The high-resolution mapping satellite CARTOSAT 2-A, which, while placed at a height of over 600 kilometres, can identify objects as small as a car.
